Herbalife – An Honest Third Party Review
Herbalife has been around for a while so the chances of you hearing about them is pretty darn good. Herbalife has been around for 32 years and are one of those companies that has almost become a household name in the network marketing arena. You may have seen their products on ebay and other places online and maybe even approached by someone asking you if you want to lose weight and if you wanted to join them too.
Having 2.3 million distributors for their products Herbalife is a really big company. Herbalife is number 2 in line only to Amway in their global reach outward to customers. Now with a company like Herbalife you have to realize that they are an enormous company that has been around and are way past their primary growth phase that happened a while ago. So, you really aren’t joining a company that is in momentum as much as you are in a company that is in what is referred to as ‘stability’.
Herbalife – Behind the Scenes and Around the Curtains
Mark Hughes (the former CEO of Herbalife) started the company literally out of the trunk of his car back in 1980 after the death of his mother from health related weight issues and medications combined with an eating disorder.
After this happened Mark Hughes took it upon himself to make the changes he felt were necessary to prevent similar tragedies in others worldwide (Mark Hughes was a good guy). Soon afterwards the first weight loss products from Herbalife emerged on the weight loss scene.
Just like any other company Herbalife grew and grew into other areas of health and wellness expanding their product line to include hair and skin care products and now almost everything under the sun. In the early 80′s within just the first 2 years, Herbalife grew to 2 million dollars in sales. In 1986 they became a publicly traded company and grew into Canada shortly thereafter. They hit a billion dollars annually by 1996.
Mark Hughes (the original founder) died at the age of 44 in 2000. After his death the company pushed hard and grew massively to earn over 2.6 billion dollars in annual revenue by 2010 just ten years later.
Okay, So Who’s Running Herbalife Now?
The management that is in place now for the company has of course a proven record of success since the death of the founder Mark Hughes and continue to grow to this day, although the emergence of technology and the competing Network Marketing companies out there have made it more difficult.
Since 2003 Micheal Johnson has led the company into serious growth and continues to demonstrate his natural prowess at getting Herbalife in front of the right people. His 5 star executive team is also instrumental in the companies continued success. They have worked with Disney, DMX, and 7-Eleven as well.
What are the Herbalife Products?
It’s no secret of course that Herbalife has been expanding its line of products through the past years to meet the increasing needs of people in the US to lose weight and get healthy. There are 3 main products from the Herbalife line that you want to take a look at:
- The Healthy Meal Shake
- Multivitamin Complex
- Nutrient Absorption Enhancer
Number 1 above is essentially a meal replacement. Number two is a multi-vitamin complex that delivers a high degree of essential vitamins, and number 3 above deals with boosting the effectiveness of number 2.
Some of their other products include energy supplements, sun protection, joint support supplements and a host of other products too.
The Herbalife Compensation plan – The Skinny on How it Works..
The Herbalife Comp plan is like many of the other old classic comp plans. It is termed a ‘breakaway plan’ that emphasizes heavily on very high sales volume. Paying out 50% on retail sales, and 25% on sales that occur in your downline it does offer some real potential to those who are aggressive salespeople. There are a few bonuses as well, but the ‘breakaway’ part is what ‘breaks’ it for most folks.
Breakways simply means that when you hit a certain rank you “break away’ from your original upline sponsor and they don’t make as much money from you as they did when you were not as successful. This will happen to everyone in the entire company. There are no exceptions. This is also a turn- off for many people in the Network Marketing Industry.
So, is it worth it?…
Some folks will say yes, and some will say no. There are people that have made fortunes in Herbalife, and there are also the same amount of people if not more that have not made a dime and struggled for years. This is the law of averages kicking in for the MLM industry itself (most people don’t make it).
There is money to be made sure, but it is not one of the easiest plans to create a ton of wealth from either. But, if you should succeed in Herbalife you have the backing of a mammoth company and the enormous credibility will stand to push your recruiting efforts higher and higher. The kicker is this: You have to know how to recruit people in like a champ. If you don’t recruit, you don’t get the goodies.
Herbalife and Generating Leads for it…
Most folks fail miserably at recruiting because they simply do not have the right skills developed to help them succeed. Generating leads is at the heart of every business traditional or MLM. If you can’t get leads, then you end up talking to your family and friends and we all know where that ‘leads’….not good.
